Prof. Jung-ah Choi, Ph.D., assistant professor of education, organized a panel discussion at the Eastern Educational Research Association Annual Conference in Orlando, FL in February with her doctoral students Marcelle Jackson, Chris Cruz Cullari, Virginia Melendez and Melissa McBean. You are invited to take part in the training session. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a certificate stating you completed the course. This is an excellent opportunity for current and future social studies and history teachers.

The first edition of this textbook is designed to provide current and future K-12 teachers with an introduction to the essential concepts and principles of student assessment and evalsuation. The book examines trends in testing, namely, psychological, standardized and achievement tests and the rationale and assumptions underlying these assessments. On Thursday, November 10, Dr. James Clayton addressed the New Jersey State Board of Education regarding the negative impact of current regulations for student teachers, explaining that the additional time demands and testing costs are discouraging teacher candidates statewide. On Friday, November 11, Dr. Clayton presented a professional development workshop on questioning strategies.

The services for Agnes Sparrow will be today from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Emeritus Room in Pope Hall. There will be a prayer given followed by a memorial service.

Dr. Clayton presented with Dr. Joan Kwako of the University of Minnesota – Duluth. The topic of the presentation was “Racial Profiling in Elementary Math?” The professors are collaborating on a project to teach prospective teachers strategies to incorporate social justice issues in elementary mathematics classes.
